Job Description Summary
Documentation Specialist works with various tasks in the areas of technical writing and information design.
In this role the person for example designs, creates and publishes technical user documentation (e.g., operation manuals, maintenance manuals, user manuals) according to customer and end-user needs following the standards and guidelines. Researches available technical data including drawings, design reports, equipment, and test specifications.
May work with engineers and other technical personnel to clarify document contents. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree and two to four years of experience.
Main responsibilities:
  • Ensure the service meets the criteria set by the customer
  • Ensure re-use of existing solutions
  • Ensure fulfilment of standards, directives, instructions, time schedule and best practices for given tasks
  • Mentor/guide/help other team members in different sub-disciplines
  • Arrange internal reviews
  • Time management and prioritization of own tasks
  • Keeping the project schedules and assigned tasks as well as reporting possible deviations in advance
  • Cooperating and communicating with different representatives of the contact network
Main tasks:
  • Project work for new customers
  • Collecting source information for customer documentation
  • Writing of new information and editing of existing information
  • Organizing reviews with designers
  • Proofreading, language checking and peer reviewing
  • Publishing in different medias/formats, compiling complete information products
Development responsibilities:
  • Promote new solutions and working methods
  • Develop/improve documentation tools, processes and way of working
  • Develop customer relationship and discover new business opportunities (especially when located in customer premises)
